Future of manned space flight

In my opinion there should be very little manned-space-flight future –  for several reasons.

The scientific value of sending people beyond our atmosphere was gained some years ago.  It’s time to cease our manned space program.

We will never colonize another planet.  We will never send people to another star system.  We will never create a self-sustaining, habitable satellite.

We know all we need to know about the physiological and psychological effects of weightlessness – most of which were predicted.  We have devised methods of slowing and limiting those effects – methods for which there is no compelling need.

Our expertise in space flight can remain sharp with more practical programs like GPS and meteorology, and scientific programs like geology and astronomy – and military programs like ICBMs and scuds.  So the space-flight technology will advance after manned space flight ceases.  One might imagine a time when ICBMs can be abolished.

Earth’s resources are limited.  It is unethical for our generation to consume far more than needed.
